Forward the email

Where: automation editor, Action step, Forward the email

When a comment → DM automation asks someone for their email, UseNadia keeps the address. The Forward the email step sends it to your email tool: the contact goes into the list, segment or automation you pick and, if the tool can do it, receives an email with the resource.

Put it after the step that collects the email: without an email in the conversation, it does nothing. The Lead magnet template places it right after the capture.

The step shows the tools connected to your organization on the Integrations page of the sidebar. Today:

  • Brevo: a list, and a transactional template if you want;
  • Resend: a segment, and a published template if you want.

One step forwards to one tool. If you use two, add two steps.

The step has three states, depending on what is connected:

  • No tool connected: the editor shows No tool connected. The email stays in Nadia, you can export it. and a Connect a tool link to Integrations. The step stays in the template, and the editor flags it. Once the tool is connected, open the step again and pick the destination: that choice is what plugs it into the tool.
  • One tool: it is picked for you, without asking. The editor shows Tool: followed by its name.
  • Two tools or more: a Tool menu lets you choose.

If the chosen tool is disconnected later, the editor says so (Brevo is no longer connected.) and the step forwards nothing until it is connected again.

The second field says where the contact goes, and uses the tool’s word: List on Brevo, Segment on Resend. The menu shows the destinations of the connected account, by name. The contact is added to it, or updated if already there.

Since the step sits in the tree, two keywords can go to two destinations: GUIDE to one list, CHECKLIST to another, each on its branch. The simulator shows where the email goes.

The DM already delivers the link. The email is a bonus, and two families of tools send it differently.

Tools that send a template (Brevo, Resend). Tick And send them an email, then pick one of your templates in Email template. The tool sends it right away, filled with four variables, the same for every tool:

Variable Value
LINK the automation’s {lien}
RESOURCE the {ressource}
KEYWORD the word the person sent
USERNAME their Instagram username

The text, sender and subject are the template’s, written in the tool: UseNadia adds nothing. The syntax differs from one tool to another, see each tool’s page.

Before anyone receives it, Preview email shows the template filled with the automation’s values (or example values where a publication fills them), and Send me a test has the real email sent to your own address: the only exact rendering.

Tools that send through a sequence. With tools such as Beehiiv, Kit or MailerLite, an automation of the tool would send the first email at sign-up; these tools are not offered yet.

For each collected email, the step adds the contact to the destination with these attributes, when the tool has matching fields: IG_USERNAME (the Instagram username), IG_ID (their id), KEYWORD (the keyword) and RULE (the template’s name). Then, if the box is ticked, it has the template sent.

The diagram and the test then show the tool’s name, the destination (List or Segment followed by its name) and + email followed by the template name.

Forwarding is best effort: if the tool refuses or is down, the email stays in UseNadia, the person still gets their link in the DM, and the run notes the error, prefixed with the tool’s name (brevo: …, resend: …).

The email stays in UseNadia, and leaves it in two ways:

  • Export CSV, at the top of Attached to this channel in the Analytics Automations tab (every attachment of the channel) or among the people of one attachment, see Taking the emails away;
  • the automation.email_captured webhook (Webhooks), which hands every email to n8n, Make, Zapier or your own system. That is the way for a tool without a sign-up API, such as Substack.
