Resend

When a comment → DM automation asks someone for their email in a DM, UseNadia keeps the address. Connecting your own Resend account lets the Forward the email step also write it to Resend: the contact goes into one of your segments and, if you want, receives one of your templates with the resource. Its card says both: Add to a segment · Transactional email.
Get an API key in Resend
Section titled “Get an API key in Resend”Open API Keys
In Resend, open API Keys, then Create API key.
Choose Full access
A Sending access key can only send: it reaches neither segments, nor contacts, nor templates, and UseNadia refuses it. Pick Full access.
Copy the key
Name it after what uses it (for example
UseNadia) so you can revoke this one alone later. It starts withre_and Resend shows it once: copy it now.
Connect it in UseNadia
Section titled “Connect it in UseNadia”Open Integrations
The Resend card shows a single field, API key.
Paste the key and click Connect
UseNadia checks the key with Resend before saving it. A wrong, revoked or sending-only key is refused on the spot and nothing is stored.
Check the account
Resend has no account name: the card reads Connected: followed by your verified domains. That is the account your automations will write to.
The key is stored encrypted and is never shown again. Disconnect removes it; connecting again with a new key from the same account picks up where you left off. One Resend account per organization.
Prepare the segment and the template in Resend
Section titled “Prepare the segment and the template in Resend”A segment. It is the destination the step offers in its Segment menu. On Resend, contacts are shared by the whole account and segments group them (what used to be called audiences).
A published template, if you want to send the resource by email. Resend only sends published templates: a draft is not offered. The template carries its own:
- From, an address on a domain verified on Resend;
- subject.
UseNadia invents neither: a template without a From or a subject is refused, with a message saying what to set.
In the template, declare the variables you use and write them between three braces. UseNadia fills them like this:
| Variable | Value | Suggested fallback |
|---|---|---|
{{{LINK}}} |
the automation’s {lien} |
your website’s address |
{{{RESOURCE}}} |
the {ressource} |
“the resource” |
{{{KEYWORD}}} |
the word the person sent | a neutral word, for example “your keyword” |
{{{USERNAME}}} |
their Instagram username | “there”, or a greeting without a name |
Give each variable a fallback value in Resend. When a value is missing (an
automation without a {lien}, a person whose username Instagram does not
give), Resend uses the fallback; without one, the variable stays empty. Only
the variables the template declares are passed.
Contact properties, if you want to see where each contact comes from.
UseNadia writes IG_USERNAME, IG_ID, KEYWORD and RULE (the Instagram
username, their id, the keyword and the template’s name) only if these
properties exist in your Resend account: Resend refuses a contact carrying
an unknown property, so UseNadia skips the ones that do not exist.
What UseNadia does with each collected email
Section titled “What UseNadia does with each collected email”- The contact. If Resend does not know it, it is created straight into the segment. If it exists, its properties are updated and the segment added if it is not there yet. Its subscription status is never touched: someone who unsubscribed stays unsubscribed.
- The email, if the box is ticked: UseNadia reads the template again, then asks Resend to send it to the person with the variables above. The sender and subject are the template’s.
Use it in an automation
Section titled “Use it in an automation”Add an Action step, Forward the email, after the one that collects the email. If Resend is your only connected tool, the step picks it for you; then choose the Segment and, if you want, tick And send them an email and pick the Email template. Preview email shows the filled template (subject, sender, text), with the fallbacks where a value is missing; Send me a test has the real email sent to your own address. The step in detail: Forward the email.
Resend is best effort: if Resend refuses or is down, the email stays in
UseNadia, the person still gets their link in the DM, and the run notes the
error (resend: …).
