Threads and comments
Where: inside the composer, the Add comment button under the editor
A post can have more than one part. What the extra parts become depends on the platform.
Adding a part
Section titled “Adding a part”The button under the editor is labelled according to what the selected channels do with extra parts: Add comment when they all publish them as comments, Add post when they all publish them as follow-up posts, and Add comment or post when the selection mixes the two. On the channels connected here it reads Add comment: on Instagram, extra parts publish as comments on your own post.
Each part gets its own editor. On Instagram the comment is text only: a media attached to a part after the first is not published. Use the arrows to reorder parts and the bin to remove one.
Delays between parts
Section titled “Delays between parts”Every part after the first has a Delay control: how long to wait after the previous part before publishing this one.
Available delays: 1m, 2m, 5m, 10m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 2h.
The practical use here is putting a link in a follow-up comment a few minutes after the video, which Instagram treats more kindly than a link in the caption.
What each channel does
Section titled “What each channel does”| Channel | Extra parts |
|---|---|
| Published as comments on your own post. Comments cannot carry media | |
| TikTok | None. Only the first part is sent |
| YouTube | None. Only the first part is sent |
The full per-platform rules are in Posting rules by platform.
The alternative: an automation
Section titled “The alternative: an automation”If the follow-up comment exists to hand someone a link, a comment → DM automation does it better: the person asks for it in the comments, and gets it in a direct message that only they see — instead of a link sitting under the video for everyone and for the algorithm.
