Connect a channel

Where: the account switcher at the top of the sidebar, Add Channel

A channel is one connected account. Everything else in UseNadia — the calendar, the composer, the inbox, analytics — hangs off channels, so this is the first thing you do.

Add Channel offers three, and a line under each says what it unlocks:

Channel What it unlocks
Instagram Comments & DM automation, analytics history — and publishing, and the inbox
TikTok Analytics history — and publishing
YouTube Content cards, analytics. Publishing waits for Google’s API audit, see Posting rules by platform

All three connect the same way, by OAuth redirect. You click the platform, get sent to its own authorisation screen, approve, and land back in UseNadia with the channel connected. What each platform asks differs.

  • The account must be a professional account, Business or Creator. A personal Instagram account cannot be connected: switch it in the Instagram app first (Settings → Account type and tools).
  • The authorisation screen is Instagram’s own (Instagram Login), not Facebook’s. You log in with the Instagram account itself; no Facebook Page is involved.
  • The permissions asked are the instagram_business_* set: profile, content publishing, comments, insights, and messages for the inbox. UseNadia’s Meta app is published and has passed App Review, so any professional account can connect — not only the ones that own the app.

Meta sometimes asks a follow-up question before the channel is usable. UseNadia calls this a continue integration step, replays it when you come back with a ?continue= parameter, and the channel is not usable until you finish it.

TikTok’s authorisation screen asks you to confirm the account and the permissions (profile, publishing, analytics). Nothing else is required.

YouTube goes through Google’s consent screen. You pick the Google account that owns the channel and accept the YouTube permissions; when that account has several YouTube channels, UseNadia then asks which one to connect. It asks Google for offline access so the token can be renewed without you.

The channel appears in the account switcher with its avatar and a platform badge. Two markers are worth knowing:

  • A red dot means the channel needs attention. Usually the token expired and it needs reconnecting, sometimes an unfinished setup step.
  • Faded out means the channel is disabled.

Tokens are renewed in the background: each channel has a job that wakes up at the token’s expiry date and refreshes it. When that fails — a password change, a revoked app — the red dot appears and Reconnect in Manage a channel fixes it.

A freshly connected channel is in no brand. Put it in one from Manage brands & channels — see Brands and scope.

"Invalid state" after authorising

The security token that ties the redirect back to your session was lost, usually to a privacy extension or a second browser tab. Start over in one fresh tab. Full detail in OAuth and channel connect errors.

Instagram comes back without the account

The account you authorised is not a professional account, or the permissions were declined on the consent screen. Switch the account type in the Instagram app, then connect again and accept every permission.

The Google account has no channel

YouTube needs a channel to exist on the Google account you picked. Create one on YouTube first, then connect again.
